On September 13, 2024, Wu Jinyan and Hong Yao, both shared pictures of their marriage certificates on their respective social media account Weibo publicly announcing that they have tied the knot.
On the post they both tagged each other, with the caption “Got it today!” which means got married today. In the shared pictures, the two of them are holding their marriage certificate with the blue sky in the background. There is also a photo of the two together, taken when they received their certificate. In front of the bright red, festive background, both are seen smiling.
Following the announcement of their marriage, netizens speculated that the actress might be pregnant after seeing her recent fancam, where she appeared with a visibly rounded belly while wearing a loose t-shirt.
Previously, the two had worked together in the TV Dramas ‘Story Of Yanxi Palace‘ and ‘The Legend Of Haolan‘. Many fans of ‘Story of Yanxi Palace’ exclaimed, “I never thought that off-screen Wei Yingluo would eventually marry Hong Zhou!”
Wu Jinyan (34) and Hong Yao (32), both starred in the 2018 drama ‘Story Of Yanxi Palace’. The drama became so popular at the time that it was the most searched TV series on google that year. Wu Jinyan who played the main female protagonist Wei Yingluo gained significant popularity catapulting her to fame both domestically and internationally.
Meanwhile, Hong Yao entered the entertainment industry with the TV series ‘The Backlight of Love.’ Since then, he has appeared in numerous dramas, including ‘The Master of Cheongsam,’ ‘A League of Nobleman,’ ‘Sunshine of My Life,’ and more.
Caught Living Together Before…
Reportedly, Wu Jinyan and Hong Yao first met on the set of the drama ‘Story of Yanxi Palace.’ Rumors of their dating began in 2019 when they were photographed traveling to Bali together and wearing matching outfits. Wu Jinyan denied these rumors at the time, but Hong Yao later posted a close photo of the two (which was quickly deleted).
Last year, paparazzi caught the two entering and leaving the same residential unit, fueling speculation of them living together. As both artists are under Huanyu Film and Television, their boss Yu Zheng quickly refuted the rumor, stating that his artists were living in Nanjing during their filming in Hengdian.
The news of their marriage, has surprised and delighted many fans, who have showered the couple with blessings. However, some fans have expressed concern that Wu Jinyan announced her marriage at the peak of her career, worrying that it might limit her acting options/career in the future.
