iQIYI’s Fantasy Period drama “逍遥 aka Xiao Yao” is directed and written by Xu Ji Zhou (徐纪周), renowned for his work like “The Knockout (2023)”. The series stars Tan Songyun and Neo Hou (aka Hou Ming Hao) in the lead roles.
“逍遥 aka Xiao Yao” is yet another fantasy drama centered around the age-old conflict between humans and demons. The King of Demons, Hong Ye (portrayed by Neo Hou), is reborn after the human Princess, Xiao Yao (played by Tan Songyun), unexpectedly wreaks havoc on the Valley of Ten Thousand Demons. The centuries-long search for the elusive Jade Wine Divine Spring has caused widespread chaos between the two races. After Hong Ye and Xiao Yao reunite, they embark on a journey to resolve issues and unravel one mystery after another.
In the recently released behind the scenes clips, Tan Songyun is seen in a flowing white and light blue robe. Beneath the outer layer, she wears a white gauze skirt, and the top layer is a delicate, light blue gauze fabric. The shoulders and cuffs are adorned with ornate silver decorations. Her hair is styled in a high princess ponytail topped with a silver crown, creating an overall look that is both elegant and ethereal. In contrast, Neo Hou wears a low-key yet luxurious black robe. The black fabric is embellished with shimmering blue sequins that give him a mysterious and imposing aura.
Reportedly, this scene in the drama is a highly anticipated reunion between the lead characters after a long separation. Judging from the stills, Tan Songyun and Neo Hou shows promising onscreen chemistry.
Tan Songyun and Neo Hou have both enjoyed successful drama releases in 2024. Tan Songyun, 34, gained significant popularity with her modern drama “As Beautiful As You” with Xu Kai. Meanwhile, Neo Hou, 27, also achieved success with his drama “Dashing Youth,” the prequel to the 2023 hit “The Blood of Youth.” The actor is set to star in his new costume drama “Love in the Clouds” alongside Lu Yuxiao.
