On September 17, 2024, Chinese actress and singer Lareina Song Zuer updated her Weibo account (@宋祖儿lareina) after a year’s hiatus.
The actress updated her post on the occasion of Mid Autumn Festival also known as Moon/mooncake festival, wishing her fans and followers well and also hinting at her potential returns after a long break.
In the post, she shared three pictures: one taken in the evening with a full moon seemingly surrounded by branches and green leaves, the second showing a delicate sweet mooncake, and the third with her friends/ family with the caption ‘full moon, round mooncakes, and reunion [mooncake fragrance, family reunion]. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!’
In August 2023, a whistleblower, allegedly a former company employee, accused the actress of tax evasion. After nearly a year of silence, the actress’s studio issued a statement denying the allegations in August 2024. The studio explicitly stated that the tax authorities had investigated the matter and found no evidence to support the claims of tax evasion.
Although official authorities have not yet responded on the matter, the recent activities of the actress and her studio, including their efforts to reinstate her, suggest a positive outlook for Song Zuer’s potential return to the screen.
Song Zuer Upcoming Dramas
After Song Zuer tax evasion issue, her four dramas were languished on the shelves, with two of them being highly anticipated major budget productions: The Prisoner of Beauty starring alongside Liu Yuning and The Demon’s Hunter Romance with Ren Jialun. Both of them are costume period dramas. Meanwhile, the other two dramas are under urban genre; Created in China and Reading Class. Since the studio already broke out the silence, fans are demanding to release these dramas as soon as possible.
